After living what I felt was a typical life of university, marriage, children and work I felt quite insignificant and wondered what on earth life was all about. I knew there had to be more to it and I was determined to find out what it was.
As a child I was taught Christian beliefs and stories from the bible fascinated me. In my teenage and early adult years I attended different churches and undertook bible studies with these groups, but nothing seemed to complete the picture for me. I felt there were other realms yet to be explained. My mother was a natural psychic of humble nature and so taught me to be open to the spiritual world. We often had “spooky” things happen in our home that we would just pass off as, “something interesting that happened last night”, but by the time I was 18 years old some of these “spooky” things were becoming quite scary. This had me turning to Christianity for answers. Once I had the freedom that a driving license brings, I attended several different churches trying to find explanations for things what were going on, but these investigations did nothing but instil fear in my world, so I guess I just switched off psychically.
Later in life my experiences as a school teacher and then as a parent, helped me to understand the profound impact I had on the lives of the children in my care and how this in turn shaped their lives. I took time off to raise my family and I wanted my influence on my children to be a positive contribution to their life. Love for my children inspired me to be the best person I could be, so I could be the best parent I could be. I had heard once that “we are all victims of victims” and not wanting to inflict issues from my past on my children, I started my journey of self discovery and healing. I knew I had to find all the old baggage from the past, pull it out, open it up and find out why it was still there. Once that was sorted, I could throw it out for good- hopefully!
When you decide that you want something, the universe immediately sets forces in motion to provide you with what you want. A teacher, “Natasha”, was sent to me and I spent the next 11 years learning about the Metaphysical world. Finally I could make sense of things I had experienced throughout my life and so much of what she taught seemed to gel with what I felt was true. I came to an understanding of how I had become who I was, but more importantly, how much more I could be! I discovered new abilities and felt amazingly aware and awake.
Other teachers came along through books, courses, interactions with like-minded people and friends. I explored the realms of the Angels, Gods and Goddesses, Spiritual Masters, Animal Spirits and the teachings of indigenous cultures, and embraced all they had to offer. After this eighteen year journey of discovery and learning I can make more sense of life than ever before and I know there is a reason and answer for everything I experience. But more importantly, I realize the power I have in creating my life and the help that is available to me.
Like you, I have been through the highs and lows of life that we seem to need in order to learn and grow. Following my divorce I had an opportunity to go to the outback which was the first time I had ever gone anywhere for a time on my own. Out there amongst the spirits of an ancient world, I became totally encompassed and infused with its energy and I could feel divine love and comfort flowing over me. I was reassured beyond all doubt that I deserved love and happiness in my life, and I returned home feeling both healed and blessed. It was an experience which profoundly affects me even to this day.
The lessons of life continue but my passion for people and this planet now motivate me in sharing what I have learnt. I believe we are all one and what we do to the earth and others, we do to ourselves. I believe now more than ever before we need to wake up and come to know our true selves so we appreciate not only our connection to each other, the earth and all creatures, but also to all life out there in our universe. We need to remember, acknowledge and regain our true and original magnificence. Until we do, we can’t even begin to instigate the process of healing needed on this planet.
A famous piece of script called “Desiderata” once claimed that “we are all children of the universe and are no less than the trees and the stars”. Each and every one of you is loved and not one is more deserving than another. Do not deny yourself the power and love of knowing your true self. Be open to all that is god and all that is good. Wake up!
